Swedish Full Body Massage Swedish massage is now known as "traditional" massage. It was developed in the1820's by a Swedish doctor, Dr Per Henrik Ling. It includes long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping and shaking motions. It is effective for most ailments, because massaging the skin, the body's largest organ, sets up a chain reaction that produces a positive effect on all layers and systems of the body. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands and circulation,and promotes health and wellbeing. This massage is great for getting rid of tense muscles and relieving stiff joints. Also good for warming up muscles prior to sport to reduce injury Aromatherapy Massage Aromatherapy massage is the combination of the healing touch of massage with the scientific art of healing with organic essential oils. Essential oils are extracts from various parts of plants, fruits, flowers, bark, roots or resin. Essential oils contain dozens of powerful complex natural chemicals that have beneficial properties. After your consultation, your therapist will select the appropriate essential oils for the maximum therapeutic benefit. The essential oils are blended with a carrier/base massage oil to create a unique mix for your individual needs. The combination of massage and the medicinal and therapeutic qualities of the essential oils can soothe, revitalise, uplift the spirit, encourage positive thinking and boost the immune system enabling the body to heal itself. Aromatherapy massage can enhance lymphatic drainage to help reduce fluid retention and swelling, induce a feeling of deep relaxation in the body and stimulate the body's natural immune system. Sports Massage The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body's soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to over-exertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. Above all, it can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether you are an athlete, ardent keep-fitter or once a week jogger. This treatment is not just for the sports person: anyone can benefit from sports massage, including people in physically demanding jobs and those not quite so obvious (occupational, emotional and postural stress may produce many similar characteristics to sports injuries). Sports massage tends to be deeper and more intense. Your skilled therapist brings together a blend of techniques, knowledge and advice during the treatment, to work effectively with you to bring about optimum performance and to provide injury-free training and minimise post event injuries. What To Expect There is no need to be worried about undressing for your massage, we want you to feel safe and comfortable and will ensure we are professional at all times. We will advise you what is going to happen during your massage, then instruct you how to place the towels over your body, so that your dignity will remain in tact throughout your massage, before leaving the room, to allow you your privacy whilst undressing and getting onto the couch. During the massage, the towels will be moved slightly in order to gain access to the part of the body that is being currently massaged, and then replaced before moving onto the next area. If you feel uncomfortable about any part of your body being massaged, please just advise us and we will, of course, avoid this area completely. Indian Head Massage This
